HSIL Limited (Formerly Hindustan Sanitaryware & Industries Limited) is the flagship Company of the Somany Group and was established in 1962 with a joint venture of the Group with Twyfords, UK. HSIL Limited is the largest Indian manufacturer of Sanitaryware products (FY’08-09 revenue: Rs. 671 Cr) with a dominant market share of 40% in the industry. HSIL Limited products are available across the length and breadth of the country and are supported by over 1000 direct dealers and 12000 sub dealers HSIL Limited was the first Company in India to manufacture Vitreous China Sanitaryware.
The Company’s sanitaryware manufacturing facilities are based in Bahadurgarh (Haryana) and Bibinagar (Andhra Pradesh). All the plants of HSIL Limited have been endorsed for their quality-consciousness and environment-friendliness by ISO 9001:2000(E) and ISO 14001:96 certifications as well as for their safety & health consciousness by OHSAS 18001: 1999 certifications. HSIL Limited is the only Indian Company to have its R&D Centre recognized by the Government of India’s Ministry of Science & Technology for over 3 decades.
HSIL Limited’s installed capacity of 600 tonnes /year at the time of inception has now reached 32000 tonnes/year (2.8 million pieces /year). This is an outcome of significant expansion and modernization at Bahadurgarh Plant, acquisition of Krishna Ceramics Ltd. at Bibinagar in 1989 and its merger into HSIL Limited (Ceramic Divn.II) followed by extensive modernisation and expansion. The key focus of the Company is on strengthening the business model by moving into higher value-added segments combined with developing growth strategies for the existing product range. One key aspect of Hindware business strategy is to take MNC brands head on and deliver world class products that speak for themselves.
HSIL Limited has entered into a strategic alliance with US $ 1.5 Billion Sanitec Group of Finland, Europe’s No. 1 Bathroom solutions company, to exclusively market their flagship brand Keramag in India.
HSIL Limited has also tied up with world renowned brand, “TEUCO”, the largest Italian designer brand, to launch high-end, very premium bathtubs & multifunctions in India.
This is being done through HSIL Limited’s extensive all India sales and distribution network.
The Company is increasingly focusing on newer product ranges and has already introduced more than 250 products in the last 18 months. It also innovates and develops eco-friendly products and an example of this is their ‘dual flush’ that conserves water. Infact, Hindustan Sanitaryware were the pioneers in introducing the first waterless urinal in the country.
Over the years, HSIL Limited is evolving from a Sanitaryware manufacturer to a comprehensive Bathroom solutions Company. Its retail presence is being reinforced by establishing exclusive showrooms and an increased number of shop-in-shop concepts within India. The Company has also increased its exports to Europe & Australia, African and Middle East Countries. HSIL Limited complements its existing Hindware and Raasi brands by marketing global premium brands like Keramag (German Sanitaryware) & TEUCO (Italian designer brand) in India.

a. AGI: In June 1981, HSIL Limited acquired Associated Glass Industries Ltd., Hyderabad, which had been established in 1966 in the Joint sector. After the acquisition, the sick Plant with accumulated losses of Rs.100 million, was turned around by HSIL Limited. The factory was initially equipped with two small furnaces having a combined capacity of 15000 tpa and after the turnaround, the capacity now stands enhanced to 150,000 tpa. The Company’s Container Glass division, AGI Glasspac has shown bullish growth over the years and today has in its client portfolio, an array of prestigious brands from pharmaceutical, food, soft drinks, IMFL and beer industries. b. Hindware Home Retail (Pvt) Ltd.: HSIL Limited is entering the organized retail sector with Home Interiors Specialty Retail business. For this purpose, HHRL has been incorporated as a subsidiary of HSIL to spearhead the Group’s vision to evolve into a Total Home Solutions Enterprise. HHRL plans to establish 50 large format company operated specialty destination stores over the next 5 years across the country and set new industry benchmarks in Home Interiors. The chain of stores will be launched under the new retail brand EVOK and the pilot flagship stores will shortly come up in NCR. The core idea behind Evok stores is to provide value for style home interiors solutions in Living, Kitchen and Bath domains. Evok stores will also facilitate discerning consumers with coordinated home interior solutions driven by themes which accentuate their lifestyle and fulfill their aspirations. Evok stores will showcase world class contemporary products in Furniture, Furnishings, Bath products, Modular Kitchens, Flooring, Lighting and Lifestyle home accessories sourced and coordinated from across the world.
At Evok stores, home spaces will be creatively arranged with affordable, value packed Home Interior products in a soulful ambience designed to evoke emotions. Evok stores will also provide personalized home interior planning services to assist home makers visualize, choose and create their desired habitats.
HHRL will also establish its Projects business to service the Architects/Builders/Interior Designers and Corporate/Institutional segments with comprehensive products & services. |

a. Hindware: ‘Hindware’ is the flagship brand of HSIL Limited, offering the widest range of Sanitaryware in the country. Its product offerings include Suites, Wash basins, Bathtubs, Bidets, Water closets as well as Bathroom accessories. For the higher end market, the offering includes ‘Hindware Art’ and ‘Hindware Italian Collection’ range. HSIL Limited enjoys a countrywide distribution network of 1000+ dealers and 12,000+ sub-dealers and has gained tremendous customer confidence and trust in their core business of Sanitaryware. Based on market feedback and research, the Company has diversified its scope in the Bath domain to become a complete Bathroom solutions provider. Therefore it has introduced a comprehensive “Allied Products” range which includes PVC Cisterns, Bathtubs, Shower Enclosures, Whirlpools and Faucets. The Company also diversified into Kitchen domain by launching an extensive range of Sinks, Hoods (Chimneys) & Hobs on pan-India basis. All the allied products have been very well received in the markets.
b. Raasi: HSIL Limited took over ‘Raasi’ brand in 1999. Raasi has now graduated to become a National Brand by creating its niche in South and West Markets. The Brand represents high quality products that carry ISI Certification along with a price tag that competitors struggle to match.
c. Keramag: ‘Keramag’ is the largest selling brand in Sanitaryware in Europe. HSIL Limited has strategic alliance with Sanitec Group of Finland, Europe’s No. 1 Bathroom solutions company, to exclusively market their flagship brand Keramag in India. This select premium range of Sanitaryware, launched in India by Hindware, comes equipped with special features benefits. Keramag products are designed by world renowned designers like Ferdinand Porsche, Antonio, Citterio, Joop and Matteothun.
d. TEUCO: TEUCO is the largest Italian designer brand for more than three decades, has been evolving, innovating and researching the best ways to harness the energy of water for the benefit of people and their well-being. “TEUCO” to launch high-end, very premium bathtubs & multifunctions in India under the umbrella of Hindware.
e. Evok: Hindware Home Retail Pvt. Ltd. is entering the specialty Home Interior business with its new and exciting retail brand “EVOK”. The core idea behind Evok stores is to provide “value for style” home interior solutions in Living, Kitchen and Bath domains. Evok stores will also facilitate discerning consumers with coordinated home interior solutions driven by themes which accentuate their lifestyle and fulfill their aspirations. Evok stores will showcase world class contemporary products in Furniture, Furnishings, Bath products, Modular Kitchens, Flooring, Lighting and Lifestyle home accessories sourced and coordinated from across the world.
f. Hindware Lacasa: The Company would launch a series of Hindware Lacasa centers in all major metros and mini metros across India. The stores would showcase Hindware’s elite product range across all categories including bathroom, Kitchen, wellness and faucet segment. The store would offer first hand experience of product features and performance.
